Jodi & Ana

Hi!

Even though I consider Jodie and me to be friends, in general we live pretty different lives and we are pretty different people.

For starters, Jodie is a Chinese girl, from Asia (obviously), while I am a Mexican girl from the United States. Not to mention that we also look very different. Jodie looks Asian while I look Western, and we also have different body types.

Jodie is about three inches taller than I am, and she is also skinnier. She has a slim body, while my body is a bit sturdier and more muscular. However, this is random, but even though she is taller than I am, I have bigger feet and hands than she does.

Another difference between us other than the obvious one, is that I have two sisters while she is an only child. I found this interesting because, in China, couples are only allowed to have one child, it is illegal for them to have more than one kid without government permission. This was interesting to me since people in the U.S. are allowed to have as many kids as they want, and nobody bats an eye.

Jodie and I are also different because she has traveled to, and lived in more places than I have. Before coming to Asia, Mexico was the only other place I had ever visited, while Jodie has also lived in Hong Kong and Thailand for longer. She has also visited other places in Asia such as Singapore and Malaysia.

We are also different because, in our home countries, we wear different clothes. In the U.S., people are allowed to wear whatever they want (fortunately or unfortunately), but in China, they are extremely conservative, so Jodie has to cover up fully, she can't show any skin, and if she does, people stare at her.

One thing that I find funny, is that Jodie considers Thailand to be very liberal, while I first thought that Thailand was very conservative since not many people wear shorts here. Here in Thailand, you also have to wear appropriate clothing when you go to temples, so you can't show your shoulders and you have to wear pants or a long skirt that goes below the knees.

Another difference between us is that Jodie is very experimental with her look while I am not. Jodie currently has pink hair, and she has experimented with other colors such as blue and red. On the other hand, I have personally never dyed my hair before, and I don't think I ever will. Additionally, Jodie has a septum piercing and tattoos, while I don't have any, and I don't think I ever will.

Additionally, Jodie and I are currently different because we have different paths in life. As of now, Jodie isn't sure of what she wants to do in her life, while I just recently realized that I would like to become an English teacher.

Even though we have all of these differences, we are still good friends and we will continue to be.

See you next week!
