Jodi

Hi!

Today I'm going to talk about one of the most interesting people I have met here in Thailand, my new friend Jodie! Unfortunately, I don't know her Chinese name yet, but I just know that her "American name" is Jodie.

Jodie is 23 years old, and she is from mainland China. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the exact place she is from, but I know that she also lived in Hong Kong for a little bit. Jodie looks young, so I originally thought she was younger than me, maybe 18 or 19 years old, but she is actually 23 years old.

Although she is 23 years old though, she is in her second year of university, while technically I'm on my third. Even though we're in a different school year, we are both in a Thai Language and Culture class, and that is where we met.

My first impression of her was that she was a friendly person because she sat next to me in class, and right after class she asked if I had an Instagram. Even though she probably didn't mean much by it, her simple request made me happy, since it made me feel like I was already making a friend at the beginning of the semester.

Jodie is an interesting person because even though she is from an incredibly conservative country, China, she has dyed her hair pink and she also has multiple tattoos. She also has multiple piercings, including a septum and belly button piercing. She is maybe around five feet four inches tall, and she has a slim frame.

She has a funny and friendly personality, and she also knows how to speak and write in English. One thing that surprised me about her, is that she knows how to write in English really well, and she also knows slang. When I text her, it feels as if I were texting a friend back from the U.S.

Jodie is also a really nice person because she introduced me to some of her other Chinese friends that also go to university. Thanks to Jodie, I already know some other people and I hope I can meet even more people.

Originally, I thought that Jodie was so good at English because she had lived in the U.S before, but in reality, she has never actually gone to the U.S. She told me that she actually learned English while working at a bar in Hong Kong, and becoming friends with the tourists.

Even though there is a slight age difference between us (she is three years older than I am), we get along well and she is easy to talk to. So far, I have only had lunch with her once, but I would love to hang out more with her outside of class. She has been in Thailand longer than I have, so I'm hoping that she'll be able to recommend me cool places to go and check out.

See you next week!
